MP welcomes opening of new health centre
Mike Wood has welcomed news that the town's new health centre is ready to open.
The centre, paid for under the last government's extensive investment in local health services, is a major component in the continuing regeneration of Heckmondwike.
The new building will officially open on Monday at Union Street close to the town centre.
Mr Wood said: "I am delighted that Heckmondwike, like Batley, Liversedge and Cleckheaton, now has its own new health centre.
"As well as providing accessible and state of the art health facilities in a purpose-built setting, the new centre is also a key component of the regeneration of Heckmondwike town centre."
Mr Wood became Heckmondwike's MP at the general election in May following boundary changes that saw the town move into Batley and Spen.
