Mike Wood - Member of Parliament for Batley and Spen

Spen Valley Greenway DEFEND THE GREENWAY logo

Yorkshire Water plans to shut down the Spen Valley Greenway while they lay a pipe under its entire length. This work could begin as early as this OCTOBER on the busiest and most popular stretch — between Cleckheaton and Heckmondwike. It could reasonably be over two years before the Greenway is back to normal.

Mike Wood MP, local councillors, Kirklees Council and Sustrans want to stop them and are hoping to convince Yorkshire Water to use the Spen Valley Ringway route instead — which would disrupt fewer people and leave that route in a better state than at present
